Stepping Forward

Sometimes you feel you're kinda going in a direction you weren't planning on.

Sometimes I guess it feels you have to stop for a little before stepping forward in the direction you're aiming for.  I take that that's life, right?

I'm going through an experience right now where I had assigned myself to it never happening, but it is. It actually is, and more than that, I'm in control.  Which is the beeest part.

I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Little Details

I'm working really hard at the moment at making my 'space' really warm and comforting.  As much as I adore looking and buy furniture, I find that day to day it's all in the details.  Little things dotted around that make everything feel more homely!

How do you guys make a space feel truly your own?!  Any tips?!

1. Flowers brightening up my windowsill.
2. Tiny miniature baskets filled with old school badges and business cards from any etsy sellers I buy from.
3. A few of my paintings hanging on my wall.
4. The cutest (and dirt cheap) pastel bowls that hold jewellery and hair accessories.  I adore these bowls!

Inspiration: Francoise Hardy

Looking at photos of Francoise Hardy makes me want smooth, straight hair, huge doe eyes and that chicness that comes with being a French singer in the 60s.  One can dream, eh?!

As much as I don't fulfil any of the above criteria, I'm definitely working on achieving the dream hair!

Happy Tuesday!  I've had an exhausting day.  I basically spoke for 4 hours straight (not necessarily out of choice!) in work and I had a sore throat before even beginning, so now I feel pretty rough.  Plus I don't think i've fully recovered from dancing at dawn on Saturday night.  Oh, I am getting (i.e. feeling) ooooold!  Hope you're all good though!  let me know what you think of Francoise as a beauty/fashion inspiration!xoxo

Bottle Rocket.  Just because my LOVE for Wes Anderson was fully rekindled by Moonrise Kingdom last night.  (That is one special movie.)  So I wanted to revisit some early Wes, I guess.

Too True

I make no secret of the fact that music is so incredibly important to me, and I feel it defines a huge part of my life.  It may sound OTT and dramatic, but I really feel music is as important to my wellbeing and survival as the air I breathe.  (Please don't judge my dramatic sentiment!)

Whilst on a night out last night I spotted 'blessed are the beat makers' written on a wall at the venue.  Even though it was a reference to more hip-hop beats as opposed to the sort of 'beats' I listen to, I still think it's a lovely sentiment and is true for all musicians.  

Just something a little warm and fuzzy on this Sunday!

Gloucester and Stroud (aka The Best Doughnut Experience)

A couple weeks ago I headed to Gloucester to meet with uni friends for a bit of a reunion/planning weekend.  We're planning a huge trip to the States (slightly postponed until next year) but it was fun to talk about all the things we're hoping to do.  I'm particularly excited about the prospect of seeing bears.  Yes, this mat make me sound a little...something, but I am looking forward to that!

The trip idea came from Katy, who is American, and we're heading to her home state of Minnesota, and will be doing a little bit of travelling all over.  I can't wait until we're properly planning the details when we get together closer to the time and work out the finer points!  Yay!

Anyway, despite having to postpone the trip for a bit (we were aiming for the end of September, but it's more likely to be next year instead) I'm so glad we had an excuse to get together and laugh at each other's quirks (we all lived together for 4 years, so we should know each other's quirks pretty well) and reminisce about old, old times!  The weather was crazy hot (waaaay hotter than BArcelona the previous weekend!) so we took a trip to Stroud and wandered around The Shambles Market.  I loved it, and wanted to buy everything.

All in all a well needed and fun mini trip!  I sure love those guys.  They're such an important part of a significant part of my past, and I really hope we continue to be important to each other (for different reasons I'm sure).  Aww, getting soppy here.
