Boots

With the weather changing and becoming cooler, fresher and just a little chilly I'm finding myself thinking about how my wardrobe is going to transition to toasty layers and coziness!

For some reason I'm also pretty focused on boots.  I just want to buy boots.  I already have a fair few pairs, but for some reason I'm dreaming of some really spot-on 60s boots.  I've found a few examples of some favourite 60s inspired ones.

Inspiration: Francoise Hardy

Looking at photos of Francoise Hardy makes me want smooth, straight hair, huge doe eyes and that chicness that comes with being a French singer in the 60s.  One can dream, eh?!

As much as I don't fulfil any of the above criteria, I'm definitely working on achieving the dream hair!

Happy Tuesday!  I've had an exhausting day.  I basically spoke for 4 hours straight (not necessarily out of choice!) in work and I had a sore throat before even beginning, so now I feel pretty rough.  Plus I don't think i've fully recovered from dancing at dawn on Saturday night.  Oh, I am getting (i.e. feeling) ooooold!  Hope you're all good though!  let me know what you think of Francoise as a beauty/fashion inspiration!xoxo

1960s Cardiff

After a loooong week, I'm baaaack!  After a little wandering in the snow today, I thought it'd be fun to find some photos of Cardiff in the 60s.  I'm not from here originally, and my little village is steeped in history.  It can be hard at times to see the history around Cardiff (other than the obvious castles and civic centre) and I thought it'd be fun to see what I could find.  

Sad to see so many Woolworthness considering it was one of the true losers during the recession.  Boo!

In a Mod Mood

I just stumbled across this photo at oh so lovely vintage and I think it's such a darling photo and is aesthetically dream-like!  I love this mod look, and would definitely like to pick up a pair of these glasses somewhere.  Plus, how perfect is the hair?!

Beyond Cool

I love photography, and kinda find it weird that we can take photo after photo with digital cameras and edit away for the 'perfectly' captured moment.

This just emphasises further how incredible 'old' photos actually are, and the talent it took to take such amazing pictures. As a total 60s nerd and with a particular bias towards b&w photos, here are some of the coolest shots ever taken. In my opinion. Like, if you were to ask me. Which you're not, but here they are anyway. So there.

I mean, how could you not think Dolly, Andy, Bob, Chevy and the Factory are the coolest ever?!

Style Inspiration

One of my favourite TV discoveries this year was That Girl, starring Marlo Thomas.  

I love the fun and whimsical plot lines, and completely appreciate its 'ahead of its time' (I kinda hate that phrase, but oh well) modern-girl-alone-in-the-city-doing-her-thing-and-loving-it spirit.  

But what draws me in the most is its most perfect aesthetic.  I want the flippy perfectly coiffed hair, the amazing 60s lashes and make and I definitely want the wardrobe.  It really is a lesson in mod style.  

I have some really amazing vintage 60s pieces in my vintage collection, and hope to do some outfit posts here at some point, and when I do, I will definitely be channelling Marlo Thomas as Ann Marie.  (Also, how perfectly kitch is her name?!)
