Weak Weekend

As I mentioned in my last post, I was annoyingly unwell this weekend.  I somehow dragged myself around to do some stuff, and took a few iphone snaps to document a slightly rubbish weekend!

Here are a few...

I got to play a snare drum at work

Love the duo Skittle things

Love this ring

The white chocolate milk obsession continues...

I-feel-ill-face

hope you're week is going well lovlies,

A Stirring Song

Due to laziness caused by illness, I was not in the mood to faff with blogging this weekend, if I'm honest.  Brain. Was. Mush.  Very. Mushy.

However!  Super Furry Animals came to the rescue with Golden Retriever.  I think this is the second SFA track to feature as a Stirring Song, but it's well worth it!  It totally got me up and moving and out of my funk this weekend.  Stupid mystery abdominal pains.

Anyway, take a listen!

Hope you had a lovely weekend, and were blessed with lovely weathery goodness...or something like that!

I'm looking forward to seeing First Aid Kit play tomorrow night.  Long time coming, I tells ya!

Today's Print

Back to florals for Today's Print! xoxo

A Stiring Song

Hi lovelies.

I hope you've had a lovely weekend.  After a really busy weekend last week, this week was particularly low key.  Never mind!  I did get a little painting and film time in, so that's good.

Anyway, time for this week's stirring song, which is Alcoholiday by Teenage Fanclub.

In my opinion, I am Teenage Fanclub's number 1 fan, but then I would think that of myself.  Their music is beyond incredible and they are a great example of how amazing talent comes out of Scotland (other favourite Scottish exports include Mogwai and Irvine Welsh).

Their song Alcoholiday from the album Bandwagonesque is superb, and I sing it so loudly each time I hear it.  (And it was actually the inspiration for one of my paintings last night).  I was reeeeally lucky to see Teenage Fanclub perform Bandwagonesque in its entirety a few years back, and it was one of the most magical gigs I've ever been to.  Mesmerising!  I'll never forget it.  (The Don't Look Back series of gigs All Tomorrow's Parties put on are often musical highlights for me!)

Anyway, here's the track.  Listen to it, and I'm sure you'll love it (if you love reverb, you definitely will)

Hope the end of your weekend and the start of your week goes well xoxo

(ooh, this is my 100th post!)

Today's Print

I wore this dress to work today, and thought I'd share its print as 'Today's Print.'  Pretty self-explanatory I guess, right?

It's a pretty red dress with a sort of spotty type print.  I also really like the collar it has.  I do love a collar...!

Hope your week is going well.  My head's a little fuzzy and staring at a screen in work is unpleasant as a result.  Hey ho, I'll live.

Speak soon xoxo

Full Stomachs

I took a day off work today to spend time with a visiting friend, Nicole.  She lives a few hours away and we don't get to see each other that often, so it's worth making a day of it!  She likes people who make an effort (inside joke!)

We spent the majority of our time filling our bellies with goodies!  First of all, food at Mimosa and then a spot of tea at Waterloo Tearoom.  It was a pretty delightful day, and we snapped away with my camera...!

Mimosa

Leek and Black Bomber Melt with the best chunky chips.  Seriously.

Nicole's Club Sandwich.  It was quite the monster.

We both had the pressed chocolate cake.  It's soooo decadent.

Waterloo Tearoom

More equipment!

Trying to master the equipment

Nicole had the English tea.

I love the furniture and feel here.  I wanted to take this bucket seat home.  Com-fy.

Such a sweet place.

My cherry blossom green tea.

De-lish!

Happy about my tea!

A little look at my outfit...

Today's dress detail (no print today, just pearl swans!)

My handbag

Hair detail.

(these last 4 photos taken by Nicole!)

And an iphone dump from the day too!

See what I said about the day revolving around food and drink?  It was so much fun though!  I can't wait until we have another fun day like this again.

Speak to you all later!  xoxos

Instagrammin'

Like most people with an iPhone, I do like me some Instagram.  Actually I really like quite a few photography apps, and may share a post on that soon, but there's something so addictive about Instagram.

Here's one shot from today.  Pretty shoes!

If you were bothered/curious about/interested in my Instagram feed, my name is thesweetestroad (duh!) or you can find my feed online here Instagrid

Speak to you later!

A Stirring Song

This week's song is Flood by The Acorn.  I really like this band, and have relaly fallen for their (kinda old now) album Glory Hope Mountain.  Isn't that an incredibly positive title for an album?!  Their music is rich and romantic, peppered with beautiful harmonies and pretty instrumental details.  Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Here are the Canadian lovelies...

Enjoy!xoxo

Today's Print

Here's today's print.  It's another floral number...!

It's a dress from H&M and it's really cute and easy to wear, so I nabbed it!

And as a little addition to Today's Print, here's a shot of my earrings from today.  I thought I'd include them as they're so cute!  Today's Accessory?!?!

Hope your Sunday eve is going swimmingly...xoxo

Pastel Pitch

As much as I love etsy (which is a lot), it's an extremely dangerous place to visit frequently (which seems to be a further issue for me!) if you L-O-V-E pastels.  Which I do.  A Lot.  I'd wear and decorate in pastels exclusively if I could.  Actually, I love brights too, but I reeeeally love pastels.

I want this pitcher.  It's so simple, but very pretty.  I think it'd look crazy lovely with iced tea with tons of fruit in it!

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday.  I am!
loves,

Today's Print: New Feature

Hi lovelies!  I very rarely wear "plain" clothes; that is, clothes that don't have a pattern or print of some kind.  I love print and all my clothing has some sort of pretty pattern.

So, a new feature here is Today's Print, where I post a picture of the print I'm wearing that day.  Quite a simple idea, no?

So here is today's print.  A large floral pattern.  I don't usually go for larger floral patterns, but I love the shape of this dress and the print really works with that.

Happy Saturday!

love, gwynypie xoxo

Twirling

How dreamy is this dress?  Girly, fitted, pretty, dreamy...be mine?  Please?!

I will dream tonight of twirling and swirling around in this floaty number.

Good night everyone,  gwynypie xo

Life Lately...

Life lately has been different, to say the least.  I've had to transition from working at home alone to being in a busy office.

With moving almost two weeks ago, I've been trying to settle in and prettify my room and make it my own.  I think I've done ok so far.  It's a pretty big space and I'm getting there!

Below are just some snaps that I've been taking as things change and grow, and as I get used to my new surroundings and routines.

Journal shelf

Yarn Shelf

Trip to Ikea

Favourite Hasbeens

Comfort

New shelving

Unpacking dresses

Matching hanger and cardi

Shoe display

Patent leather love

Tree overwhelming big Victorian houses

Just a little snapshot of how my life is right now.  This weekend I want to:
  • learn to use my new sewing machine and make a simple window blind
  • convince my friend that a "breakfast for dinner" party is a good idea
  • take some photographs in the park
  • have good coffee with another friend
  • start reading a new book
  • listen in full to the new First Aid Kit album (so excited for their gig at the end of the month!)
  • avoid facebook
  • pick photos to scrapbook
  • prime some canvasses for more painting projects
  • enjoy meeting a friend I haven't seen in ages to have a real catch up
  • try not to worry about some work stuff that happened today
Is that a little too ambitious for just two days?  (Kinda three days as I have Monday off)

Anyway, a little ambition now and again is ok, right?!

Hope you're well lovelies.

Big cwtches, gwynypie xoxoxo
