Inspiration: Francoise Hardy

Looking at photos of Francoise Hardy makes me want smooth, straight hair, huge doe eyes and that chicness that comes with being a French singer in the 60s.  One can dream, eh?!

As much as I don't fulfil any of the above criteria, I'm definitely working on achieving the dream hair!

Happy Tuesday!  I've had an exhausting day.  I basically spoke for 4 hours straight (not necessarily out of choice!) in work and I had a sore throat before even beginning, so now I feel pretty rough.  Plus I don't think i've fully recovered from dancing at dawn on Saturday night.  Oh, I am getting (i.e. feeling) ooooold!  Hope you're all good though!  let me know what you think of Francoise as a beauty/fashion inspiration!xoxo

Neglect

My oh my.  This past week and a half I started my new job, and it's kept me so crazy busy I can't believe it.  I've literally been at work, then home purely to crash!  Craziness!  So yes, sorry for the neglect.  I'm rubbish.

Anyway, to relax, I've been looking around the internet for a little inspiration for when I have some real me time to create away...!

Love my friend Heledd's amazing upcycled product, and these cwtchins(!) are so lovely!  Her self-made businesses really inspire me to explore being creative and just going for it!

Ok, so this amazing chocolate amaretto crepe cake is actually all my sugar dreams in one beautifully fattening dessert.  I'm still processing how incredible it actually is, and will HAVE to attempt making it.  Just love love love it!

I really want to start using lots and lots of washi tape, and this selection is insaaaaane.  Now, how to pick....thinking of projects already!  Scrapbooking, decorating, just for fun, putting tape on everything in sight!

Trying to take it all in...

When planning yesterday's mini adventure to the (amazing) beach/woods (what a combo!) I of course took notice of the weather and wore whatever the hell I fancied, which yes, I later regretted.  Big time!  But ah well.  It was such an extremely windy day that I had to layer up on ALL the random accessories I have lying around my car (ok, maybe not all, as that would be 3 hats, 1 flowery poncho, slingback clogs, cowboy boots, a candy stripe patterned umbrella and 2 scarves).  As we climbed the dunes to the beach, you could hear the roar of the wind, and on the beach itself it looked like sheets of sand flying.  I tried to capture that in the photos, but I don't think you can really see how spectacular this was!

I look like the shape of a Christmas tree in this shadow shot.  Too many accessories maybe?!

We couldn't believe this piece of driftwood was able to withstand the wind.

Time for the woods! This is my favourite area of the whole park (which is massive).  Being there takes me right back to childhood, and running around playing games and feeling totally freeee (i.e. without responsibility!)  It was so nice to just wander and snap photos, taking it all in!  I actually got reeeeally annoyed when we bumped into other people, as though they were stepping on my own personal land.  Ah well.

It took a solid team effort to free my scarf from this nettle.  I wasn't sure if we'd all get out alive to be honest!  Tee hee!!

I love the orange colour of these buds.  (or are they berries?!)  It looked so pretty next to all the brown leaves and bare branches.

If only I could climb!

Feeling Inspired

All day today I've been in the company of friends, catching up and looking ahead to some changes I'm about to experience.  As much as I'm a little scared and am doubting my abilities, I'm beginning to see inspiration all around me.  I feel inspired to absorb every little bit of my surroundings and to use these inspirations to enhance my mind and spirit.  I want to begin creating more and more wonderful things.

I can't wait to have the mental and physical space to use my inspirations and make wonderful and fulfilling things.  So exciting!

A Year of Music

Hi lovelies

At the end of last year  decided that 2011 would be a year of music for me.  Music plays such a big part in my daily life and being able to see some of my favourite bands play is my idea of a perfect night.

Please excuse the crappy photo quality.  Most of these were taken with my old BlackBerry.  Boo.

I started off the year with Mogwai in February

Following this I was super excited to get these through the post...

For my birthday (and my birthday weekend, if you will)  I got to see both Explosions in the Sky and Mercury Rev. For various reasons, both of these concerts are very significant to me and experiences I will treasure forever.

Mercury Rev two days later.  These photos are super crappy, but you get an idea of how amazingly they used lighting throughout the gig.

The Flaming Lips performing the Soft Bulletin at Ally Pally.  This was by far one of the most moving experiences of my life, particularly when they performed Do You Realize? as a finale.

I'm so happy that I was a (small) part of this truly historical gig.

Plus my crush on Wayne Coyne got even bigger.

I was supposed to see Spiritualized and The Olivia Tremor Control in Novemeber, but both have been postponed until March.  

My musical year ended with Explosions in the Sky (again!) 

I have some pretty amazing video footage of this gig too, but am having uploading issues.  Will persevere!  I'm so grateful that some of the most inspiring musicians int he world decided to tour this year, and that I got to see them!  As much as I was disappointed about the postponed gigs, it worked out for the best with my job hunting situation and now I have at least two incredible gigs to look forward to next year!  Yay!

I hope this isn't too photo heavy post (but who am I kidding, of course it is) but just a sneak peak into my musical experiences this year.  I'm hoping to continue with this in 2012 and forever.
