Too True

I make no secret of the fact that music is so incredibly important to me, and I feel it defines a huge part of my life.  It may sound OTT and dramatic, but I really feel music is as important to my wellbeing and survival as the air I breathe.  (Please don't judge my dramatic sentiment!)

Whilst on a night out last night I spotted 'blessed are the beat makers' written on a wall at the venue.  Even though it was a reference to more hip-hop beats as opposed to the sort of 'beats' I listen to, I still think it's a lovely sentiment and is true for all musicians.  

Just something a little warm and fuzzy on this Sunday!

Hop On, Hop Off

Here's the last of my Barcelona posts.  There have been quite a few; sorry!  These photos are a bit of a round-up I guess.  The post's title refers to our adventures in hopping on and hopping off the tourist bus for two days straight!  Here are some of the things I snapped photos off as we wandered around!

Parc Guell

Parc Guell is a feast for the eyes.  It's just a fact.  A full on Gaudi 'must-see.'  This is the place to visit if you're in Barcelona and you want to a) not queue for hours (or at all) for a piece of Gaudi, b) get a little further out of the 'centre' of Barcelona and see a different sort of neighbourhood c) see the most spectacular views of the city that will take your breath away (the incline to get to those views may do that to your breath too, mind).  However, this is not the place to come if you a) need the toilet (without a doubt, this was the most disgusting toilet I've ever had the horror of using, sorry for the TMI) and b) want to avoid any sort of incline walking.

Don't get me wrong, I really loved it here, and would want to visit again in a shot.  I guess it was slightly tainted by a lot of people trying to sell cheap tat and souvenirs as you wander around this beautiful part of the world.  I guess it takes away from the fact that it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site when someone's trying to palm off a wonky magnet on you.  But the experience is that spectacular that you soon get over those tainting elements.

MNAC

The location for the fountain featured in my last post is the area in front of the MNAC (Museu Nacional D'Art de Catalunya).  The day following our fountain adventure we headed back to the MNAC as it was piddling down with rain and we thought an indoor pursuit would be best.  Ironically (or just luckily) as we were heading there the weather totally changed and it was scorching hot and dry as a bone.  Ah well.  As it was a Sunday they were closing at 2.30pm, and we got there for 1.00pm, so we had enough time, but not ages and ages to try and take it all in.

I really liked the space.  I'm not a huge fan of just white, white, white walls (I'm obsessed with colour) but of course in a museum or art gallery setting the minimal and serene setting is crucial, and I really noticed it here at the MNAC as they got it so right.

As most of our Barcelona adventures involved being outdoors, I'm so glad that our one indoor activity was here.  Definitely worth a visit.
