A Fine Film

A new blog feature!

I absolutely geeked out over Upside Down: The Creation Records Story.
Alan McGee's Creation Records certainly housed some of my absolutely favourite bands, like, Teenage Fanclub, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, SFA etc etc
Soooooo, watching this really well made documentary gave me ample opportunity to relish seeing so many of my favourite musicians on one screen.
It's pretty incredible how one indie and drug-fuelled record label produced such invaluable and mind-blowing music.  To me anyhow.
All I want to do now is listen to Loveless and Bondwagonesque on repeat.  Maybe throw in a l'il Fuzzy Logic too.
It's both completely fair and totally insane to say that the face of music would not be the same now without Creation Records.
With the end of the label in 1999, I thought Gruff Rhys' comment about fears around the millenium bug and the end of 'creation' were actually to do with the end of the label.
I want to watch this documentary again and take in even more of the story...

check out the trailer here
